We may not have been in the right season for Tulips from Amsterdam but we certainly sang loud and clear that most famous song, at our BBQ this year! Families and friends joined us to celebrate all things Dutch, having been inspired by our Dutch resident, Fieke.
We were advised by Cobi, who is Fieke's sister, as to the many interesting facts about the Netherlands. Some fact sheets which were placed on the dining tables at the BBQ have been added to our presentation just out of interest. We also learnt the national significance of the colour orange, which incidentally has been a recent colour addition to our brand colours, courtesy of Sue our Care Manager.
The BBQ was cooked by Emma, and Denise made the wonderful Dutch classic, a Butter Cake. The buffet was Netherlands inspired, with the addition of the very delicious Stroopwafel (see the tip about heating on the fact sheet).
Song sheets were printed for 'A Windmill in Old Amsterdam' and 'Tulips from Amsterdam'; so, with song sheets in hand, voices were loud, clear, and melodic. Wonderful! Christine and Sue enjoyed the music and took to the floor for some party dancing.
The day was fabulous, and we would like to share the photo presentation which is set to a piece of music entitled 'Beautiful Moments', which it most certainly was.
